Generally speaking, yes. Colombia is quite safe for foreigners, and the northern coast is especially safe. Despite relative poverty in La Guajira, family values and community bonds remain strong. The founders of Suma Uta maintain a healthy and friendly relationship with the local Wayuu community, who are kind, beautiful human beings.
Is it safe in Colombia and Mayapo for foreigners to visit?
Within the eleven acres of Suma Uta, a limited number of lots will be available for those who feel called to create their unique beach home in harmony with the land and its vision.
As part of the process, we offer a personalized session to connect with you and get a sense of your intentions and needs — emotionally, physically, and mentally — to ensure there's a natural energetic alignment with what Suma Uta represents.
When you're away, your home can be lovingly cared for and rented out by the Suma Uta team, should you wish. In addition to private beach homes, the land will also offer a beachfront co-working clubhouse and various structures to relax and enjoy the ocean up close.
How does ownership work?
Riohacha Airport is a 1.5 hour flight from Bogota or Medellin, or a 3 hour bus ride from Santa Marta city. From Riohacha, you are a 30 minute drive from Suma Uta.
How do I get there?
Citizens of most countries get a six-month stay with an on-arrival tourist visa. For those wanting permanent residency, there are many options such as buying land, investing in a business and having a pension - we are here to help you along that route.
How does the visa process work in Colombia?
Each lot will have a specified size limit to build its perimeter and skywards enough for two levels. Within the agreed upon limits, most anything is possible. All the houses do not have to look the same. However, a basic aesthetic quality needs to be met and final house designs needs approval from Suma Uta before beginning to build.
Can I build anything I want on my lot?
Great. Suma Uta and Wyld Homes will work with you as your dedicated realtor to sell your home. The same idea applies, in that Suma Uta will interview potential buyers to ensure a proper fit for the value-aligned space we are creating.
What if I want to sell my lot or house?
Gorgeous shades of blue everywhere. For fresh water, almost everyone buys water from a truck. It currently costs about $7 per 1,000 liters of water to be delivered. Once we have enough capital, we plan to bring up high quality ground water, which will need to pass through the desalinization process, resulting in even more affordable and higher quality water.
What is the water situation in Mayapo?
None for sale because we are making a beachfront clubhouse for all residents of Suma Uta. It will act as a place to get food and drink, socialize, work and chill in a hammock in front of the ocean.
How many beach front lots are there?
We do cult-ivate, so sure, call us a cult if you wish. All religions are okay with us, provided they honor the Divine.
Is this a cult?
A beachfront clubhouse built with courtyard-style architecture. From there, we could be looking at meditation dojos, tea houses, yoga huts, gyms, restaurants, smoothie bars, holistic energy clinics, theaters, fermentation stations, apothecaries, and anything else that aligns with our aligned vision of a positive creative value culture.
What kinds of communal structures may be forming?
Follow Nature to be free. No one is coming to save us, so work on our selves and be grateful for whatever help and lessons come our way. Voting is best done through conscious use of our energy. True leaders are chosen for how they are in the world.
What is our Politics?
We are creating a place of harmony and prosperity, and for that to be sustainable there needs to be a basic energetic alignment of the individuals involved. To really feel at home in Nature, we believe it is essential to be around like-valued humans. Kind-hearted, connected to God/Nature/The Divine, freedom-oriented, and positively creating a beautiful life - we interview to make sure these qualities are in place.
Why is there an interview process to buy a lot?
In the north end of a beach town called Mayapo, growing in popularity for its gorgeous sandy beaches and ideal wind-surfing conditions, you will find Suma Uta luminating with the natural elemental beauty. A half hour from Riohacha, the gateway to Colombia's remote Caribbean coast in the north, it is accessible and isolated in an indigenous Wayuu reserve.
